DAYTON, OH -Â Senior Bryce Konitzer was mowing people down on Friday, punching out eight Wright State hitters over 8.2 innings of work to help lead the Oakland Golden Grizzlies past the Raiders 4-2.
In addition to his eight strikeouts, Konitzer (1-1) tossed 8.2 innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on six hits and walking three for Oakland (5-10, 1-0).
Offensively, the Golden Grizzlies were paced by Brad Goulet, who went 2-for-4 on the day with two RBIs. Senior Jared Miller furnished a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-3 with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Grizzlies got on the scoreboard first, starting in the third inning. Goulet drove in two runs for Oakland with a single, that scored Thomas Green and Seth Tucker.
The Raiders failed to push any runs across before the Golden Grizzlies built on their lead in the fifth inning. Tucker's run-scoring single highlighted an inning where Oakland scored twice, which brought the Golden Grizzlies lead to 4-0. Wright State put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Oakland still held on for the 4-2 win, their first over Wright State since 2018.Â
