OAKLAND DROPS DOUBLE HEADER TO SIUE

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. --The SIU-Edwardsville Cougars proved to be too much for Oakland as they dropped both games of their double header today.

GAME 1 | SIU-Edwardsville 5, Oakland 2
Oakland lost game one 5-2 with Jacob Wosinski (1-2) starting for Oakland (3-8) and taking the loss. Brandon Decker was strong for the Golden Grizzlies, coming out of the bullpen and throwing four innings, giving up two runs, all earned, on two hits, with one walk and three strikeouts.

Gabe Lux led the way offensively for the Golden Grizzlies, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a home run, a walk and an RBI while Brad Goulet put together a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-4 with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Grizzlies got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Lux put Oakland on the board with a leadoff home run off senior Brant Glidewell.

The Cougars then rallied to score three runs and take a 3-1 lead before the Golden Grizzlies got back on the board in the third. Oakland scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Goulet, which brought the score to 3-2 in favor of the Cougars. The Golden Grizzlies were unable to get any closer, as SIU-Edwardsville added two runs to their tally on the way to a 5-2 final.

GAME 2 | SIU-Edwardsville 8, Oakland 4
Gabe Lux went 1-for-2 with a home run and an RBI for the Golden Grizzlies in an 8-4 loss in the second game.

Chas Sagedahl (1-2) got the ball to start for Oakland (3-9). Freshman Aleksei Goldhill came out of bullpen and threw one scoreless inning, allowing no hits.

At the plate, the Golden Grizzlies were paced by Lux, who went 1-for-2 on the day with a home run, a walk and an RBI.

Brandon Heidal compiled a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. Ian Cleary also helped out for Oakland, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double and a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Grizzlies got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Oakland scored three runs, including one driven in on a home run by Lux.

The Golden Grizzlies lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the seventh trailing 8-3. Oakland scored a run when freshman Brandon Nigh drew a walk from junior Quinn Waterhouse that scored senior Brad Goulet, which tightened the Cougars lead to 8-4. The ballgame ended with that seventh inning rally falling short.
