HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Breanne Beatty recorded a career high 20 points Thursday afternoon as the Oakland women's basketball team fell to Northern Kentucky, 66-62 from BB&T Arena.
Beatty went 7-16 (44 percent) shooting, and added two steals on the day. Beatty's 20 points was also a game high.
Freshman
Kendall Folley scored 11 points, her second straight double-digit effort, going 5-12 from the floor and adding three assists.
Oakland led for the majority of the game, which included an early 12-2 run in the first quarter. The Golden Grizzlies dominated in the battle of the boards, outrebounding the Norse 28-13 in the first 20 minutes, heading into halftime with a 28-24 lead.
Oakland found its offensive stride in the third quarter, shooting an impressive 7-12 (58 percent) from the floor.
The Golden Grizzlies recorded 18 miscues on the day, as the Norse scored 17 points off Oakland's miscues.
Lamariyee Williams pulled down a career-best eight rebounds, adding nine points.
Sydney Gouard also battled on the glass, recording eight boards of her own.
A 14-5 scoring run by NKU with just four minutes left to play gave the Norse the lead back. Despite a 5-0 run of their own, the Golden Grizzlies couldn't recover, falling 66-62.
Oakland will take on Wright State in the regular-season finale Saturday, Feb. 26, tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. from the Nutter Center. Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
