Junior Blake Lampman scores career-high 20 as Oakland picks up first #HLMBB victory of season over Milwaukee

ROCHESTER, Mich. – In the program's first home game since November 19, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies defeated the Milwaukee Panthers, 83-61, on Thursday, December 29 behind a career-high 20 points, including five 3-pointers, from junior Blake Lampman.

With the win, Oakland moves to 3-11 and 1-2 in the Horizon League, while the Panthers fall to 8-5 and 2-1 in conference action.

Lampman's hot shooting led the way, but four other Golden Grizzlies also scored in double figures. Returning from a two-game absence, senior point guard and fan favorite Jalen Moore had 17 and eight assists, graduate student Keaton Hervey tallied 16, junior Rocket Watts ended up with 14, and star sophomore Trey Townsend had 10 and nine rebounds.

As a team, Oakland was efficient from the floor all night long, shooting 50.9 percent (29-57) overall, 44.4 percent (8-18) from distance, and 73.9 percent (17-23) at the stripe.

With the exception of the season-opening victory over the Division III Defiance Yellow Jackets on November 7, Milwaukee's 61 points Thursday were the fewest the Golden Grizzlies have allowed in 2022-23. Just two Panthers reached double-digit points, with senior Ahmad Rand registering 12 and redshirt junior Jalen Johnson 10.

Oakland held only a four-point advantage, 43-39, at the halftime break but began the second half on a 10-0 run, quickly widening the margin to 14. From there, Milwaukee would not be able to cut it closer than eight and the Golden Grizzlies separated themselves over the final roughly eight minutes.

Thursday's win extends Oakland's lead to 12-9 in the all-time series between these two programs, which dates to December 21, 2005.
