ROCHESTER, Mich. – The final touches on a 7-0 regular season, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies Rocket League team picked up a pair of victories on Monday, October 17, first defeating the Northern Kentucky Norse, 3-1, before shutting out the East Tennessee State (ETSU) Buccaneers.
Beginning their seven-week campaign with a win over the Florida Southern Moccasins on September 6, Oakland followed that up by besting the Dallas Baptist Patriots on September 12, Kettering Bulldogs on September 19, Cincinnati Bearcats on September 26 and Aquinas Saints on October 4.
Consisting of a starting three of captain Eddy "Rahz" Azzam, Justin "Jcubed" Janulewicz and Jake "JWIZ" Wismont, plus alternates Camden "cmertz" Mertz, Billy "Mega" Sawyer and Seth "Tisonic Boom" Tison, the Golden Grizzlies received a bye in the semifinals and will battle the same team they ended the regular season against, ETSU, in the East 7 Conference Finals at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 27.
Throughout the regular season, Rocket League matches utilized a best-of-five format, requiring a school to win three games. However, in the postseason, this jumps up to best-of-seven, meaning you need four to seal the deal.
