Three Set Win Ushers out PFW in Oakland's Second-Straight Home Win

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Volleyball made short work of the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons en route to a three set win in #HLVB action on Saturday afternoon in Rochester.

The Mastodons started out on the board with an attacking error before the Golden Grizzlies had to hold their ground early behind a few moments where PFW would extend its lead by a few points at a time. It wasn't until a 10-0 scoring run by Oakland from Patti Cesarini, Clarke Adams, and Libby Gentile would send PFW into a frenzy in which they'd never recover as the Golden Grizzlies would take the first frame 25-17.

Up 19-13 in the second set behind the efforts of Cesarini and Madison Ross' service aces, the Mastodons mounted a 6-0 scoring run to tie the game up at 19-19 where a service error by the visitors would give Oakland much reprieve before Adams' kill would put OU up by two at 21-19.

Down the stretch in the second, it was Adams and Jessica Riedl who would stomp out any chances PFW would have at recovering the set at 25-21.

Oakland would waste no time in the third as the Golden Grizzlies found themselves up 8-1 behind a consensus three-set win from the crowd as the kills from Cesarini, Anna Nie, and Gentile would roll along with more Mastodons errors.

Four-straight errors by PFW would elevate Oakland's lead to 13-2 en route to a final, third set win at 25-14 behind Adams' emphatic kill that would stomp out the Dons at the end of the day 25-14.
