
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- During the final day of the Horizon League Championship, Jimmie Williams earned his third 400 championship title when he won with a time of 47.76. Williams won the 200 (21.25) and broke the 200 indoor school record and was part of the 4x400 team including Ray Braziel, Justin Kudera, and Marcus Nellum who won with a time of 3:15.84.
Connor Goetz added another title to his championship belt after winning the 5000 (14:29.24). Alex Hugh-Plott won the high jump with a height of 6 ft., 9 in. while Hannah Hall won for the women with a height of 5 ft., 6 in William Harell III won the 800 (1:52.74) followed by T.J. Brooks Jr. in seventh (1:55.71).
Following Williams in the 400 was Justin Kudera in second (48.41) and Braziel in third (49.05). Napoleon Outlaw III finished third in the 200 (21.85) followed closely by Delan Wynn in fifth (22.06). The women's 4x400 team made up of Meghan Earles, Maddi Leigh, Ashley Quinn, and Payton Sabourin finished in third place with 3:55.28 seconds.
In the field events, Alexis Hunter finished third in the triple jump with a distance of 38 ft., 9.5 in. followed by Paige Sanders in seventh (36 ft., .75 in.). Chase Novak finished third in the triple jump for the men (46 ft., 8 in.) while Hugh-Plott finished in sixth (45 ft., 7.25 in.).
In the distance races, Maddi Leigh took third place in the 800 with a time of 2:14.36 followed by Ashley Quinn in sixth (2:16.28). Maryam Sheena took second in the 5000 (17:13.24) and third place in the 1500 with a time of 4:34.82. Rachel Kempf followed in the 5000 and took fifth place (17:25.34). Yami Albrecht finished fifth for the men in the 1500 with 3:55.85.
The Oakland men's and women's teams finished in third place, with the women tallying 136 points while the men earned 181.
For his success throughout the year, William Harell III has been named the Men's Freshman of the Year.
