
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Freshman Romario Jackson won the discus with a distance of 164 ft., 8 in. during day one of the Horizon League Championship. Connor Goetz won the 10k with a time of 30:09.77 and setting a new facility record, while Rachel Kempf finished second for the women with a time of 35:20.60.
Emily Schaub finished fourth in the javelin throw with a distance of 123 ft., 4 in. followed by Olivia Rademacher in fifth (113 ft., 9 in.).
Lauren Christian finished 11th in the discus (126 ft., 7 in.) followed by Gabby Cyriax in 12th (123 ft., 0 in.). Maryam Sheena had the top qualifying time of the 1500m with a 4:39.42 finish.
The Oakland men are in third place while the women sit tied for fifth place. The competition continues tomorrow at 9 a.m.
