OAKLAND TAKES 17 FIRST PLACE FINISHES AT GOLDEN GRIZZLIES INVITE



FINAL GRAPHICROCHESTER, Mich— The Golden Grizzlies competed on their home track and field for the first time since 2019 and saw huge results. Connor Goetz won the 5000 with a facility and meet record time of 14:19.95 while freshman Maryam Sheena won for the women with a time of 17:39.22.

The first-place finishes just kept coming. Ray Braziel placed first in the 400 with a time of 48.46 followed closely by Justin Kudera in second (48.93). T.J. Brooks Jr. won the 800 (1:56.15) while Delan Wynn won the 200 (21.88). Marcus Nellum took first place in the 110 hurdles (14.79) and Napoleon Outlaw won the 100 (10.70). 

In the field events, Kyle Piotrovsky won the shot put (51 ft., 4 in.) and the hammer throw (139 ft., 5 in.). Paige Sanders won the women's long jump (17 ft., 11 in.) and Chase Novak won the men's long jump (22 ft., 11 in.) and the triple jump (44 ft., 10in.). Romario Jackson won the discus throw with a distance of 153 ft., 10 in. 

And if that wasn't enough, Hannah Hall took first place in the high jump with a height of 5 ft., 5 in. followed by Emily Schaub in third (4 ft., 11 in). Schaub also took second place in the 100m hurdles (14.97). Meghan Earles placed fourth in the 400 hurdles with a personal best of 1:04.88.  

In the women's 100 Azsah Bradley placed third (12.31) followed by Marthea Vann-Scott in fourth (12.36) and Shaneese La Mons in fifth (12.40). Bradley placed second in the 200 dash (25.63) and the 400 (25.63). 

Gabby Cyriax won the hammer throw (162 ft., 10 in.) and placed fourth in the discus with a distance 116 ft., 8 in. followed by Lauren Christian (118 ft., 1 in.) in fifth, Lauryn Chambers in seventh (116 ft., 7 in.) and Grace Antonelli in ninth (112 ft., 2 in). 

The Golden Grizzlies totaled 17 first-place finishes and will continue their competition on Apr. 17 at home for the Grizzly PR Classic.
