OAKLAND SECURES 86-81 ROAD WIN OVER MILWAUKEE

Final

MILWAUKEE, Wisc.
— The Oakland men's basketball team topped the Milwaukee Panthers, 85-81, on the road Friday night inside the Klotsche Center. OU (10-16, 10-9 HL), currently seeded third in the Horizon League Basketball Championships standings, improved to 10-9 in conference play with the victory. It marked the sixth road win in HL play as well.

The Golden Grizzlies had four players score in double figures, led by Jalen Moore, who totaled a team high in points (20), assists (nine), and steals (two). Daniel Oladapo added his seventh double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Rashad Williams chipped in with 16 second-half points. Micah Parrish rounded out OU players in double figures with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

The Oakland offense was impressive from beyond the arc, pouring in 10 threes on 27 attempts. Williams hit four treys, all in the second half, for the Golden Grizzlies in the contest.

After falling behind 14-11, OU went on a 5-0 run with 13:35 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Parrish, to take a 16-14 lead. The Golden Grizzlies then added one point to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 39-36 advantage.

Oakland did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 22 of its 39 points close to the basket. The frontcourt trio of Oladapo, Parrish, and Trey Townsend paced the Golden Grizzlies in the first period, as they combined for 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting, along with 12 rebounds.

Following intermission, the Golden Grizzlies kept widening their lead, expanding it to 64-58 before going on a 6-0 run, finished off by Williams' three, to grow the lead to 70-58 with 9:22 to go in the contest. The Panthers (7-11, 6-10 HL) narrowed the margin to two points, 80-78, with 40 seconds remaining in the second half following a 15-5 run, but the Golden Grizzlies held on for the 85-81 win.

Oakland shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting seven shots from deep to score 21 of its 46 points. Williams bounced back from a poor-shooting first half with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting in the period.

OU will be back in action for the series closer against Milwaukee tomorrow at 5 p.m. The matchup will stream on ESPN3.
