What does being inducted to the Hall of Honor mean to you?
This is a humbling honor to be inducted alongside such high-caliber student-athletes of Oakland's past. It means that I get to represent my volleyball program, every girl I had the privilege to play with and the incredible coaching staff during my four years playing for OUVB!
What is your favorite Oakland University memory?
There are too many to choose from. I had to run through my top three to my husband to see which one is truly 'the winner'. A few include meeting my husband at Hamlin Hall during freshman year (little did I know at the time!), beating the first Big Ten team in 2012, winning the 2014 Horizon League Championship, playing against my little sister in the Mizzou preseason tournament and getting aced by her intense float serve- but laughing about it afterwards - team buses breaking down, studying anywhere I could to pass call 2 during season, late nights writing lab papers and programming robots- I could go on and on!
What did you do after your Oakland experience (career, professionally, etc.)?
Right after I graduated, the first thing I did was say yes to my now husband of five years- and start the FCA manufacturing leadership development program while pursuing my MBA back at Oakland. I joined as one of the 12 inaugural members of the Oakland University Young Alumni Council, supporting/planning/attending our alumni weekend at mackinaw, the young alumni 10 within 10 awards, and the exciting toast to the tassel, to name a few. I put myself to the test early on, grinding late nights at class, turning around for work, dedicating myself to our relationship. One year later, we married on July 31st, 2016, and I graduated from the MLDP and moved into the Manufacturing Engineering organization, taking on augmented reality, digital twin models, and manufacturing product lifecycle for new vehicles. Simultaneously, I graduated from Oakland with my MBA concentration in operations management. From this milestone, I started teaching lean and flexible automation systems within the industrial and systems department, giving back what I have learned to future engineers of all disciplines. I would say 'nerding out' over automation, robotics, and lean/six sigma, to be precise! I then transitioned this in-person course to one of the first 100% asynchronous online classes in the ISE department to support students who were changing careers, working full time, or had complex schedules and needed this embedded flexibility. I am still teaching today. At FCA, I moved into what is called the 'cost deployment pillar lead' position within their manufacturing launch methodology (WCT) and at the same time became the launch supervisor for the trim line for the upcoming WS or Jeep Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer. Halfway through this launch, I made a career change into aerospace in Jan 2020 and moved from MI to CO to work for Ball Aerospace, a daughter company for Ball Corporation. Currently, I am developing material handling methodologies for our manufacturing and development divisions for our radio frequency antennas, optics, and other hardware inside our production space. I am also running our operating supply program for our internal development and production spaces. In addition to working full time, I am currently teaching in the inaugural Frontline Manager Leadership Program through DU or The University of Denver within the University College! Chris and I have our 9-month-old son Maverick, born on Valentine's Day 2021. We have our three dogs and frequently travel to the mountains to enjoy trails in our Polaris or for a simple hike with the entire family.
