HALL OF HONOR: TRAVIS BADER - MEN’S BASKETBALL

ROCHESTER, Mich.
— Travis Bader has been named to the Hollie L. Lepley Hall of Honor class of 2022. Bader was a member of the Oakland men's basketball program from 2009-14.

As one of the top shooters in college basketball history, Bader broke the all-time NCAA record with 504 3-pointers made and 1,246 threes attempted. To date, he remains first in NCAA history in attempts and sits second behind Wofford's Fletcher Magee's 509 3-pointers set during the 2018-19 season.

Bader finished his career at Oakland as a three-time all-league performer, two-time Mid-Major All-American, two-time NABC All-District First Team honoree, and a record holder for several school and league records. He tied the school record with 137 games played and was a four-time Academic All-League honoree, earning his bachelor's and master's degrees in communications. The Okemos, Mich., native ranks second in school history with 2,351 points, the most in the Division I era. Bader also broke the all-time school record in free-throw percentage (.878).

The Golden Grizzlies experienced a bevy of success with Bader, reaching the NCAA Tournament in 2011 and the CIT Final Four in 2012. OU went a combined 45-23 against conference opponents and defeated three Power 5 schools in Tennessee (2x) and Houston during his playing career.

After Oakland, Bader played six years of professional basketball, including stints in the NBA G-League, NBA Summer League, and overseas in Europe. He is currently in his second year as a Video Assistant with the Brooklyn Nets.

This year's induction ceremony will be held at the Auburn Hills Marriott Pontiac on February 12, 2022. There will be a cocktail hour at 6:00 p.m. followed by a strolling reception and award ceremony at 7:00 p.m.

What does being inducted to the Hall of Honor mean to you?
Being inducted into the Hall of Honor means a lot. As a kid, my dream was to play Division I basketball, but I never received a scholarship offer until the spring of my senior year from Oakland University. Coach Kampe and the staff at Oakland turned my dream into a reality. Countless hours in the gym dedicating myself to the game proved to be a recipe for success no matter the obstacles. To be added to the list of great athletes that attended Oakland is something I don't take for granted. I owe a lot of thanks to my wife Alexa, family, friends, teammates, and coaches that helped me along the way.

What is your favorite Oakland University memory?
My favorite memory at Oakland was winning the Summit League tournament and advancing to the NCAA tournament in 2010-2011. The experience of fighting every single day with your brothers to achieve the ultimate goal of a championship and take Oakland back to the big dance is something I will never forget.

What did you do after your Oakland experience (career, professionally, etc.)?
After my college career, I played professionally in Europe and in the NBA G-League for six years. I played in France, Lithuania, Italy, Greece, and Spain. In between, I played in the NBA G-League for Houston and San Antonio's affiliate teams. Currently, I am in my second year with the Brooklyn Nets as a Video Assistant.
