Dylan Borczak scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season and
Mikey Ketteman recorded the game-winning Golden Goal in overtime, as the Oakland men's soccer program extended its Horizon League unbeaten streak to four games with a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory at Wright State on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Charlie Braithwaite helped out with his second assist of the year on Borczak's first goal, while
Finn Jurak contributed with four saves in the win.
The Raiders (4-7-1, 3-4-1HL) struck first, as Reece Allbaugh delivered a strike past OU goalkeeper Jurak 22 seconds into the Horizon League matchup. Borczak got Oakland (6-5-2, 5-1-1HL) on the board at the nine-minute mark as he placed Braithwaite's feed into the back of the net for the equalizer.
WSU threatened to take back the lead later in the opening half with multiple shots, but a composed Jurak kept the Raiders scoreless for the remainder of the period. In the closing minute of the half,
Noah Jensen tallied a shot on goal. However, WSU goalkeeper Sebastian Jimenez corralled the save to keep the matchup tied, 1-1, going into the halftime break.
Oakland got off to a quick start in the second half, as Dawson Schrum and Braithwaite had off-target shots in the opening six minutes. The Raiders shifted the momentum in the 52nd minute, as Ids Hannema connected on a goal to give WSU a 2-1 advantage.
Adam McAleenan and
Ville Ahola had quality opportunities to square the match with shots on goal at the 68-minute mark, but WSU's Jimenez saved both. The score remained 2-1 in favor of the Raiders until the 85th minute, when Borczak came up clutch with his second goal of the day to equal to score, 2-2. Meanwhile, Jurak made two saves in the final five minutes of the period to force overtime.
Ketteman recorded the Golden Goal on a penalty kick just six minutes into overtime to clinch the come-from-behind victory for Oakland.
OU will return to action at Louisville on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m.
