Oaklands falls to Green Bay in overtime

Jalen Moore scored a career-high 33 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Daniel Oladapo poured in a season-high 20 points and tied a career-high with 18 rebounds

, Wis. — Career performances from Jalen Moore and Daniel Oladapo was not enough, as the Oakland men's basketball program fell to Green Bay, 84-81 in overtime, on Friday evening inside the Kress Center. 

Moore led Oakland (3-10, 3-4 HL) with a career-best 33 points on 9-of-16 shooting, while Oladapo poured in a season-best 20 points and tied a career-high with 18 rebounds (10 defensive, eight offensive) for his fourth double-double of the season. Rashad Williams rounded out Golden Grizzlies in double-figures with 15 points, which included a game-tying 3-pointer in the final minute of the second half.

The trio accounted for 84-percent of Oakland's offense in the loss. Freshman forward Trey Townsend added six points and was the only other Golden Grizzly to make more than one field goal. 

Oakland led 81-77 with 1:04 to go in overtime but the Phoenix (2-9, 2-5 HL) responded with a shocking 7-0 run to close the Horizon League matchup. Williams, who was Oakland's hottest player down the stretch, missed a 3-point field goal with three seconds left to seal the game.

Green Bay started in front, as they led 31-19 at the 7-minute mark of the first half. However, the visiting Golden Grizzlies gained a 34-33 advantage at halftime thanks to a 15-3 run in the remaining seven minutes of the first period. 

Neither team led by more than three points in a wire-to-wire second half. The lead changed 18 times alone in the period. In total, the matchup featured 22 lead changes and 13 ties.  

Moore had the ball in a potential game-winning situation with seconds remaining in the second period but fumbled it out of bounds. It was one of his six turnovers in the game. 

Green Bay shot 50% (31-for-61) and 43% (10-for-23) from 3-point territory while Oakland averaged 42% (27-for-64) from the field and 33% (8-for-24) outside the arc. The Golden Grizzlies held the advantage in total rebounds (37-to-32), offensive rebounds (14-to-8), free throw makes (19-to-12), and second-chance points (23-to-9). 

Oakland will look to rebound against Green Bay tomorrow at 5 p.m. The game will air on ESPN+. 

Other notes
Moore and Oladapo were the only Golden Grizzlies to shoot free throws (22 combined)… Moore logged a season-high 45 minutes… Moore has logged 40-plus minutes in four games… Williams made all six of his field goals in the second half… Townsend and Williams combined for all eight of Oakland's points in overtime… Kevin Kangu played a season-high 30 minutes as he started in place of Micah Parrish (injured)… Oakland tied a season-low in steals (six).
