Trey Townsend, and
Daniel Oladapo each scored in double-figures to clinch a weekend sweep, as the Oakland men's basketball team won 82-75 over the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons Saturday night inside the Gates Sports Center.
Moore collected a game-high 22 points on just eight shot attempts and added four assists to lead the Golden Grizzlies (8-13, 8-6 HL) to their fifth win in the last six games.
Trey Townsend helped out with a career-best 19 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks, while
Daniel Oladapo chipped in 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting, five rebounds, and four assists.
Micah Parrish contributed with 10 points, three boards, and two assists.
Oakland forced 14 PFW (6-9, 5-9 HL) turnovers while committing 13 themselves in the Horizon League matchup. The Golden Grizzlies turned those takeaways into 10 points on the other end of the floor.
After falling behind 3-0, Oakland went on a 12-0 run with 17:32 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Parrish, to take a 12-3 lead. The Golden Grizzlies expanded their lead to 27-16 at the 8:41 mark in the period. However, the 'Dons surged back within one point (29-28) with 3:40 to go in the half. Oakland closed the half with a 10-4 run to enter halftime in front, 39-32.
OU kept its lead intact before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Parrish's jumper, to grow the lead to 69-61 with 3:17 to go in the contest. The margin narrowed to five points with 1:05 remaining, but the Golden Grizzlies shot 11 of-12 from the free throw line in the final minute to secure the 82-75 victory.
Oakland shot a season-best 53-percent (25-of-47) from the floor and 78% (26-for-33) at the charity stripe in the game. The Golden Grizzlies reached a season-high in free throw attempts and makes. Twenty-four of OU's 33 attempts came in the second half, including 12 in the last minute of play. Moore paced the free throw shooters going 12-of-14 at the line.
