With 11.9 remaining in the first overtime, and Oakland trailing 80-77, the Golden Grizzlies found Maddox Jr. with an opening, but he would be sent to the line for two free throws. After making the first, the savvy sophomore guard hit the second off the iron allowing for a Hill-Mais put back and game equalizer with 4.0 to play.
Maddox Jr. made a great effort to keep the play alive for Oakland, finding Oladapo in the paint to cut the deficit to 78-75 with a minute to play. On the following trip down the floor, Maddox Jr. hit a floater to bring the Golden Grizzlies to within a point with 41.6 to play in OT.

Trailing by four, Williams fired one from the Oakland University Credit Union logo, finding nothing but net to cut the Green Bay advantage to one with 1:55 to go. Ensuing possession for the Phoenix, the fifth-leading blocker in program history, Hill-Mais, sent one aside and scored on the other end of the floor to put the Black and Gold ahead a tally.
Green Bay jumped back out in front, 63-62, with under four minutes to play as Oakland went more than four minutes without a field goal.
Maddox Jr. hesitated and took the ball to the rim with 12:52 to play for three the old-fashioned way to give Oakland its first lead since 11-8 with 14:12 to play in the first half. Hill-Mais energized nearly 4,000-strong in the O'Rena on the following trip down the floor, fighting through the contact for the bucket plus the foul - putting the Golden Grizzlies ahead, 51-47, as part of a 10-0 run over four minutes of play.

Oakland led for just over six minutes before Davis scored a bucket in transition to give the Phoenix a 13-11 edge heading into the under-12 media. It took Oladapo only eight minutes to haul down eight boards - coming into the game he had back-to-back double-digit rebounding efforts.
