
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Drew Demumbrum and
Michael Stygles hit 1-for-3 and 1-for-5 respectively each recording two RBI while
Blake Griffith went 2-for-4 with a RBI as Oakland fell 6-5 in walk-off fashion on Saturday night at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
Tyler Trovinger also went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs.
After trailing 4-1 early in the game, Oakland (2-3) got a run in the top of the ninth inning off a RBI single by Stygles to score Trovinger for a 5-4 lead.
Alabama State (5-1) started off the bottom of the ninth with a single followed by a RBI double tying the game at 5-5. After a pair of walks to load the bases, ASU's Angel Jimenez delivered the walk-off single up the middle to win the game.
Beau Keathley went 5.0 innings with six strikeouts in the no decision effort.
Cooper Dundas picked up the loss tossing 3.0 innings with three strikeouts in relief.
The Golden Grizzlies took a 1-0 lead in the first off a RBI single from Griffith. After the Hornets added three runs in the bottom of the frame, Demumbrum drew a bases loaded walk to score
Mario Camilletti followed by a RBI ground out from Stygles to pull within a run, 4-3.
Demumbrum posted his second RBI off a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 4-4 in the seventh inning.
The series finale is set for Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. ET.
