
GREEN BAY, Wisc. - Alona Blackwell scored in double figures for the fifth consecutive game with a team-high 11 points while
Kayla Luchenbach and
Jalisha Terry each added nine points as Oakland fell 76-51 at Green Bay on Sunday at the Kress Events Center. Luchenbach also grabbed a team-high seven rounds followed by six from
Chloe Guingrich.
Autumn Kissman had seven points with five rebounds while
Kahlaijah Dean chipped in with six points.
After Dean hit a jumper to beat the buzzer at the end of the first quarter pulling Oakland (10-15, 5-9 HL) within one point at 19-18, the second quarter proved to be the difference as the Golden Grizzlies was held scoreless until Guingrich hit a free throw at the 2:21 mark. However, that was the only point Oakland would get while Green Bay (14-12, 9-5 HL) scored 20 points to take a commanding 39-19 lead heading into the half.
The Golden Grizzlies regrouped and scored 32 points in the second half but could not overcome the first half deficit. Turnovers also proved to be costly as Oakland committed 24 that led to 28 Phoenix points. Green Bay was led by Frankie Wurtz who scored a career-high 28 points.
Oakland continues their four-game road swing at Cleveland State on Friday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.
