STILLWATER, Okla. – Rashad Williams scored a game-high 32 points, recording a career-best 10 triples as the Oakland men's basketball team fell to Oklahoma State 84-71 Saturday night from Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Williams had 22 field goal attempts on the day, with 20 of them coming from behind the arc. Williams' 20 triple attempts is a school record, surpassing
Kendrick Nunn's 19 at Green Bay (12/20/17). The Detroit native's 10 3-pointers puts him second in program history.
Jalen Moore tallied his fifth-straight double-digit scoring performance, recording 13 points, eight assists, four rebounds and two steals.
It was all Oakland (0-6) in the first half, leading for nearly 14 minutes, compared to OSU's 2:33. The Golden Grizzlies made eight of their 17 triples in the first half, and led the Cowboys (4-0) by as much as seven.
Oakland entered halftime trailing OSU, 37-36.
It wasn't until about five minutes remaining in the game the Cowboys began to pull away, and the Golden Grizzlies were unable to recover.
Oakland shot 46 percent (17 of 37) from beyond the arc, and finished the game with a season-best 39 percent (24 of 62) from the floor.
Saturday's game marked the first meeting between the two squads.
Oakland will close out non-conference play with its fourth-straight power-5 opponent against in-state foe Michigan State Sunday, Dec. 13 at noon. Sunday's game in East Lansing will be broadcast on FS1.
