PARRISH HITS GAME WINNER TO GIVE OAKLAND EIGHTH-STRAIGHT WIN OVER DETROIT MERCY

OAK at DET

DETROIT – Micah Parrish scored a career-high 18 points, including the game-winning bucket as the Oakland men's basketball team defeated Detroit Mercy, 77-75 in overtime Saturday from Calihan Hall as part of the #MetroSeries rivalry.

Parrish scored 16 of his 18 points, going 5-5 from the floor in the second half and overtime.

Daniel Oladapo recorded his third-straight double-double scoring 16 points and pulling down 13 boards. The junior is averaging 18 rebounds and 17 points per game during Horizon League play.

Trey Townsend tallied his third-straight double-digit performance with 10 points, adding seven rebounds.

Detroit Mercy (1-6, 0-3 HL) led for 18 minutes of the first half, with Oakland (1-9, 1-2 HL) never securing the lead for the first 20 minutes of play. The Golden Grizzlies headed into halftime trailing 35-29, shooting just 7 percent (1-of-15) from 3-point range.

The second half was a more balanced battle after a couple Oakland runs pulled the game within reach.

Junior transfer Zion Young had a pair of big triples down the stretch including one with 33 seconds left to tie the game at 66-all and send it into overtime.

Young continued his hot-streak from long range into overtime, hitting a triple in Oakland's first possession to give the Golden Grizzlies a 69-66 lead.

Oakland led by as much as seven in overtime with 2:21 left to play, but a Detroit Mercy run tied things back up at 75-all.

After grabbing an offensive board, Parrish hit the game winner with just seconds left, to seal the 77-75 win.

Saturday's game marked Oakland's eighth-straight win over the Titans. The two teams will square off again tomorrow from Calihan Hall at 4 p.m. on ESPN3.
