
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Chloe Guingrich reached double figures for the second consecutive game posting 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds as Oakland dropped its first conference game of the season with a 76-41 setback at IUPUI on Thursday night.
Autumn Kissman added eight points while
Kahlaijah Dean and
Jalisha Terry each chipped in with four points.
Oakland (6-7, 1-1 HL) entered the game leading the lead Horizon League in 3-point field goal percentage defense (26.2%) which ranks 43rd nationally. However, IUPUI (8-6, 2-1 HL) connected on a blistering 11-for-20 (55%) from behind the arc along with going 29-for-58 (50%) from the field which proved to be the difference.
After falling behind by 13 points at the end of the first quarter, Oakland opened the second on a 11-2 run cutting deficit to four points at 21-17 at the six minute mark. IUPUI responded with a 13-4 run of their own to take a 35-21 in the locker room at the half.
The third quarter was a defensive battle with IUPUI holding Oakland to eight points for the second time in the game.
The Jaguars' offense exploded even more in the fourth quarter only missing three shots from the field on 10-of-13 shooting and 8-of-9 from 3-point land to post 28 points.
Oakland concludes the road swing at UIC on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 3 p.m.
