ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Sullivan Lauderdale made a season-high seven saves while
Noah Jensen and
Cameron Wilde each recorded a shot on goal as Oakland dropped a 2-0 non-conference decision at Michigan on Tuesday night at the U-M Soccer field.
Oakland's (3-2-1) best chance in the first half came off a free kick from Wilde from just outside the 18-yard box that made its way through traffic but was saved by U-M keeper Andrew Verdi.
In the second half,
Spencer Nolff hit a free kick from the right side which Verdi caught the ball above the crossbar as his momentum took his body pass the goal line. However, he was able to keep his arms outstretched preventing the ball from crossing the line.
The Wolverines (3-2-1) were led by graduate transfer and former Oakland forward
Nebojsa Popovic who scored a goal and recorded an assist.
Oakland resumes Horizon League play at Green Bay on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. ET.
