ROCHESTER, Mich.  – Sami Lopez netted the overtime game winner as the Oakland women's soccer team defeated Eastern Kentucky, 2-1 Thursday night from the Oakland Soccer field. 
 
Eastern Kentucky (0-2-0) struck first with an early goal just six minutes into the first half to take a 1-0 lead.
 
The Golden Grizzlies (2-0-1) answered in the 18^thminute when Sami Lopez put one in the back of the net for her first career goal for Oakland. 
 
Both teams remained scoreless in the second half recording three shots each. 
 
Less than five minutes into overtime, Sami Lopez added the overtime game winner off an assist from Ashley Postma and Sierra Grodsinsky. 
 
Noëmi Stadelmann and Jaimie Leas split time in net, each recording one save.
 
Oakland returns to the field Thursday, Sept. 5 when they travel to Toledo to take on the Rockets at 7 p.m.
