ROCHESTER, Mich. -
 The Oakland tennis team is set for the 2019 Horizon League Tournament as the No. 3 seed and will open play against No. 6 seed Detroit Mercy on Friday, April 26 at 3 p.m. All matches will be broadcast live on ESPN+ from the Schwartz Tennis Center in West Lafayette, Ind.

Team Notes:
- Oakland's No. 3 seeding is its best since joining the Horizon League
- The Golden Grizzlies finished the regular season at 13-8, 7-2 in conference play, and a perfect 5-0 at home
- Oakland enters the tournament on a four game win streak, and has won six out of the last seven matches
- This marks the fourth consecutive year Oakland has qualified for the league tournament
- Friday's match against Detroit Mercy marks the second meeting of the season. The two squads met on April 13 as the Golden Grizzlies defeated the Titans 6-1.
- The winner of Friday's match will take on No. 2 seed Cleveland State on Saturday at 3 p.m.
 
Individual Notes:
- Sophomore Ava Thielman was named Horizon League Player of the Year, the first to be awarded this honor in program history. She was also named All-Horizon League First Team Selection
- Darya Maltseva was also recognized by the conference earning All-Horizon League Second Team accolades
- Thielman finished the regular season with an impressive 16-5 No. 1 singles record, 8-1 in league play
- Thielman's 16 singles wins at the No. 1 spot is the most among the Horizon League
- Also earning double digit singles wins is Maltseva (13), and Alexandra Whall (10)
- The duo of Thielman and Maltseva have tallied nine wins at the No. 1 doubles spot, a team best
- Oakland swept the Horizon League weekly honors with Thielman earning singles player of the week honors and Dasha Artamonova and Sofia Borcuti being named doubles player of the week (4/23)
