ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland tennis team wrapped up a perfect record at home as the Golden Grizzlies defeated Northern Kentucky, 5-2 Saturday from Bloomfield Tennis and Fitness on senior day.
 
Oakland (13-8, 7-2 HL) took the early 1-0 lead over the Norse (7-12, 3-6 HL) after Dasha Artamonova and Sofia Borcuti took the first win, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot, teammates Ava Thielman and Darya Maltseva won in No. 1 doubles 7-6 (7-2).
 
All three seniors won their respective singles matches, while Thielman concluded the competition with a win to give Oakland its fifth and final point.
 
Thielman finished the regular season with the best No. 1 singles record in the league at 16-5.
 
The Horizon League Championship is set for Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28 in West Lafayette, Ind. at the Schwartz Tennis Center. Oakland will enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed, its lowest seeding since entering the Horizon League.
 
The Golden Grizzlies are riding a four match winning streak, and have won six of their last seven matches.
