
CHICAGO - Nick Parr came out on top of a pitcher's duel picking up his second win of the season going 7.0 innings while not allowing a hit through five innings with four strikeouts while
Cameron Fuller recorded his second save closing out the final 2.0 innings with three strikeouts to lead Oakland to a 2-1 series opening win at UIC on Friday.
Ronnie Krsolovic went 2-for-3 while
Cherokee LeBeau hit 1-for-4 with a RBI and run scored.
Drew Demumbrum also hit 1-for-3 with a double while
Matt DiLeo and
Blake Griffith each added a hit.
LeBeau got Oakland (9-25, 7-9 HL) on the board in the fourth inning with a RBI single to score DiLeo with Demumbrum getting thrown out at home on the play.
UIC (17-14, 10-5 HL) got their first two hits of the game in the sixth inning with a pair of singles to tie the game at 1-1.
With two outs in the seventh, Krsolovic singled moving LeBeau over to second base.
Myles Zilinsky hit a grounder to second base but the UIC first baseman dropped the throw from second allowing LeBeau to score the eventual game-winning run.
Fuller came in a closed the door of the Flames allowing only one hit while retiring six of the seven batters he faced.
Both teams will conclude the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 20 starting at 1 p.m. ET.
