
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Drew Demumbrum was a home run away from hitting for the cycle going 3-for-3 with a triple, double and single with three RBI while
Nick Parr went 6.0 innings allowing only three hits with three runs and five strikeouts to lead Oakland to a 8-5 league win at Northern Kentucky on Friday.
Mike McGee went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a RBI while
Mario Camilletti and
Blake Griffith each added an RBI single.
Austin Sherry also picked up his first save of the season on the mound.
Trailing 1-0 in the fourth, Demumbrum got Oakland (3-18, 3-4 HL) on the board with a RBI double. Griffith added a RBI single and also later scored on a passed ball for a 3-1 lead. NKU (4-19, 3-4 HL) tied the game in the bottom of the frame off a hit by pitch and error.
The Golden Grizzlies moved ahead for good in the fifth inning with four runs off a Camilletti RBI single followed by a two-run triple from Demumbrum and bases loaded walk by
Myles Zilinsky.
After NKU added a pair of home runs, McGee connected on his second double of the game to plate an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Sherry then closed the door on the Norse securing Oakland's third consecutive win.
The second game is set for Sat., March 30 at noon.
