
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Beau Keathley picked up his second consecutive win going 6.0 innings with eight strikeouts while
Dan Rutan and
Nino Puckett combined to close out the final three innings in relief to lead Oakland to a 4-0 win and doubleheader split at NKU to claim its second straight league series on Sunday. The Norse won the first game, 3-2, with a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth.
Blake Griffith went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs while
Myles Zilinsky,
Mike McGee and
Ronnie Krsolovic all hit doubles. McGee and Krsolovic along with
Mario Camilletti,
Matt DiLeo each recorded a RBI.
Camilletti got Oakland on the board with a RBI groundout in the first inning, McGee drew a bases loaded walk in the fourth followed by Krsolovic's RBI double in the fifth gave the Golden Grizzlies a 3-0 lead. DiLeo added a RBI single in the ninth to seal the game.
In game one, the Golden Grizzlies came up on the short end of a pitcher's duel as NKU won with a walk-off while holding Oakland to just three hits.
Drew Demumbrum went 2-for-3 with a RBI double while McGee accounted for the only other hit.
Andrew Hoffmann posted a career-high six strikeouts allowing one run and one unearned run in 6.0 innings of work for the no decision. NKU starter Kyle Service allowed only one hit.
NKU took a 2-0 lead off a home run in the fifth inning. Demumbrum's two-run double scored DiLeo and McGee in the eighth to tie the game before the Norse got the game-winning hit in the ninth.
Oakland travels to Eastern Michigan for a mid-week game on Wed., April 3 at 6 p.m.
