YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Beau Keathley was dominant on the mound going the distance tossing a complete game shutout allowing only three scattered hits with recording a career-high 13 strikeouts to lead Oakland to a 8-0 series clinching win over Youngstown State on Sunday.
Ryan Fitzgerald,
Myles Zilinsky and
Drew Demumbrum each hit a home run while
Mike McGee and
Matt DiLeo each hit 3-for-4 with a RBI.
Keathley allowed hits in the first, second and ninth innings and retired 14 straight batters between the third and seventh innings.
Fitzgerald's home run got Oakland (2-18, 2-4 HL) on the board in the second inning followed by a RBI groundout by Demumbrum in the third for a 2-0 lead.
The Golden Grizzlies got back-to-back home runs in the fifth with a solo shot from Zilinsky followed by a two-run homer from Demumbrum for a 5-0 advantage.
McGee added a RBI single in the sixth inning while
Cherokee LeBeau scored off a fielding error. DiLeo's RBI single in the eighth completed the scoring for Oakland en route to the 8-0 win.
Oakland will host Northern Kentucky for the home opener on Friday, Mar. 29 at 3 pm.
