TOLEDO, Ohio – Ava Thielman earned a No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles win as the Oakland tennis team was edged by Toledo, 4-3 on Saturday from Twos Athletic Club.
 
Thielman and partner Darya Maltseva won at the No. 1 doubles spot, 6-4 while teammates Samantha Galloway and Sofia Borcuti won 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
 
In singles action Thielman earned the win at the No. 1 spot, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, while Borcuti won at No. 7 singles, 7-5, 6-0.
 
The Golden Grizzlies will open up Horizon League play next week beginning with IUPUI on Friday, March 22 at 5 p.m. Oakland will then travel to UIC to take on the Flames Sunday, March 24 at 10 a.m.
