INDIANAPOLIS --
Braden Norris and
Xavier Hill-Mais have been named Horizon League Freshman and Player of the Week respectively announced by the league office Monday. Norris was also named College Sports Madness Horizon League Player of the Week.
Norris, a Hilliard, Ohio native, recorded his second career double-double by scoring a career high 23 points on 7 of 10 shooting from three-point range plus had 10 assists as Oakland defeated in-state rival Detroit Mercy in dominating fashion, 95-75, on Feb. 23. His seven three-pointers were a career high and are tied for the most made by an Oakland player this season. The freshman matched his career best with 10 assists and leads the Horizon League in assist-to-turnover ratio. This is his third weekly honor from the conference this season and first from College Sports Madness.
Hill-Mais, a redshirt-junior from Greensboro, N.C., helped Oakland top the Titans last week by scoring a game high 29 points, 22 of which came in the second half. The Horizon League leader in field goal percentage shot 13 of 17 from the floor while registering seven rebounds and three blocks. It was the 15th time he scored over 20-points in a game this season as he ranks second in the conference in total points. This is Hill-Mais' second weekly honor from the league.
The Golden Grizzlies will close out their regular season with a pair of home games on Feb. 28 against UIC and March 2 against IUPUI.
