
MOREHEAD, Ky. - Beau Keathley delivered solid performance on the mound tossing a career-high 12 strikeouts allowing only one hit in 7.1 innings of work while
Blake Griffith hit his first career home run. However, Morehead State got two runs off balks and eventually won 4-3 on a walk-off walk in the bottom of the ninth.
Ryan Fitzgerald and
Austin Tangney each recorded a hit and RBI.
Oakland (0-7) took a 2-0 lead in the second inning off a fielder's choice RBI by Tangney and RBI single from Fitzgerald.
Griffith's solo shot put the Golden Grizzlies up 3-0 in the top of the sixth inning. Morehead State (6-1) got the run back as the lead off batter reached on an error, advanced to second on a Keathley balk, moved to third on a ground out and then scored on another balk.
In the eighth inning, Keathley struck out his 12 batter but then walked the bases loaded and was replaced by
Max Lebrato. After Lebrato got the second out, he was called for a balk to plate another run. The Eagles then added an RBI single to tie the game at 3-3.
With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Morehead State loaded the bases on a hit batter and then won the game on a walk.
Oakland travels to Oxford, Ohio for a series at Miami starting on Friday, Mar. 1.
