ROCHESTER, Mich. --
Braden Norris recorded his second career double-double by scoring a career high 23 points on 7 of 10 shooting from three-point range plus had 10 assists as the Oakland men's basketball team cruised to a 95-75 win over Detroit Mercy Saturday in front of an O'rena record crowd of 4,141.
Norris' seven three-pointers were a career high and are tied for the most made by an Oakland player this season.
Xavier Hill-Mais scored a game high 29 points, 22 of which came in the second half, on 13 of 17 shooting and registered seven rebounds and three blocks.
Brad Brechting recorded his fourth career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. The redshirt-junior center is averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds in his last seven games.
Jaevin Cumberland added 14 points and was 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
Oakland established itself defensively early, holding Detroit Mercy to 3 of 16 shooting from the floor (19 percent) to start, and jumped out to a 23-9 lead in the first half. The Golden Grizzlies headed into the locker room with a 45-36 halftime lead.
Overall, Oakland held Detroit Mercy to 37 percent shooting (25 of 68) on the day, a season low in Horizon League play for the Titans.
Oakland shot the ball well hitting at a 58 percent clip from the floor (32 of 55) and 50 percent from three-point range (12 of 24). Oakland's 95 points are a season high and are the second-most points scored by the Golden Grizzlies in the series.
The win gave the Golden Grizzlies the series sweep on the season as Oakland has won 11 of the last 14 meetings against the Titans dating back to 2001 including the last five consecutive games.
Since joining the Horizon League in 2013, Oakland is 10-2 against the Titans. Oakland's 20-point win was the largest margin of victory in the series since the Golden Grizzlies defeated the Titans by 26 points, 93-67, in 2001. Oakland now leads the Metro Series 14-2.
The Golden Grizzlies will return to the Blacktop for their final two regular season games next week on Feb. 28 and March 2.
