OAKLAND FALLS IN DOUBLEHEADER AT WCU

Demumbrum, DiLeo and Camilletti each record four total hits

2-16-19 WCU G1 Final: Oakland 8, WCU 9

 Drew Demumbrum hit a combined 4-for-8 with two RBI and a run while Matt DiLeo also went 4-for-8 with two runs and a RBI as Oakland lost in walk-off fashion in the first leg of a doubleheader, 9-8, at Western Carolina and fell 12-2 in the nightcap on Saturday at Hennon Stadium. 

Mario Camilletti went 4-for-8 with three runs and a RBI. On the mound, Andrew Hoffmann picked up the no decision in his collegiate debut going 5.0 innings with three strikeouts in game one while Cameron Fuller also got a no decision tossing 5.0 innings with five strikeouts in the second game.

In game one, Oakland jumped to a 4-0 lead with runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings off RBI singles from Myles Zilinsky, Ronnie Krsolovic and Camilletti. 

The Golden Grizzlies tacked on three more runs in the seventh with RBI singles from DiLeo and Demumbrum for a 7-2 lead. WCU responded taking the lead at 8-7 with three runs in the bottom of the seventh and three more in the eighth. 

After Camilletti tied the game in the ninth scoring off a wild pitch, WCU's Luke Robinson hit a walk-off home run for the 9-8 win. 

2-16-19 WCU G2 Final: Oakland 2, WCU 12

After a scoreless first three innings in the nightcap, Oakland took a 2-0 lead off a sacrifice fly from Demumbrum and RBI single from Cherokee LeBeau in the fourth. However, the Golden Grizzlies could not hold the 2-1 lead late in the game as the Catamounts posted six runs in the seventh inning and five more in the eighth to sweep the doubleheader.

Oakland opens a four-game set at Morehead State on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m.
