
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. –
Marcus Nellum and
Malcolm McIntyre both claimed first place finishes in the Golden Grizzlies last meet of the season before the Horizon League Championships. Nellum placed first in the 60m dash with a time of 6.99 while McIntyre took the top spot in the 400m with a time of 50.65. Crossing the finish line behind McIntyre was Jonathon Sholl who recorded a time of 51.12.
Distance runner
Kyle Schwieman placed third in the 3000m (9:07.67) and
Chase Novak placed third in the long jump (22 ft., 2.5 in). In addition,
Sam Narusch and
Chase VanSickle both tied for second place in the high jump with marks of 6 ft., 2 in.
Ashley Vican placed second in the 3000m with a time of 10:57.23, while
Briana Walker (8.02) and Marthea Van-Scott (8.08) placed fourth and seventh respectively in the 60m dash. Van-Scott also finished sixth in the 200m with a time of 26.52.
Rounding out competition for the women,
Paige Sanders leaped to a second place finish in the long jump recording 17 ft., 8.75 in. and
Krysteena Davis placed tied for first in the high jump with a mark of 5 ft., 4.25 in.
The Golden Grizzlies will resume competition next weekend as they head to Youngstown for the Horizon League Championships. At the Indoor Championships last year, the women's team placed runner-up while the men's team placed third.
