HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. --
Brittany Welch recorded a career high 21 kills and 26 digs as the Oakland volleyball team came out victorious in a five set battle at Northern Kentucky Wednesday night inside Regents Hall. Welch recorded her first career match of over 20 kills and just her second career match of over 20 digs.
As a team, Oakland registered 126 digs, obliterating the previous single match school record from 2009 of 115.Â
Lindsay Wightman led the Golden Grizzlies with a season high 34 digs, the sixth-most ever in match in program history.
Kenzie Dunn (18),
Haley Brown (16),
Jamie Walling (13) and
AnnaBelle Tomei (11) all recorded career highs in digs as well.
Oakland dominated Northern Kentucky (10-7, 3-2) by out-blocking the Norse 14 to 3.5 as
Megan Hobler accounted for nine blocks herself.
Taylor Dellinger added six blocks and
Mackenzie Schneider recorded four.
Offensively, Dellinger and Walling were the other Golden Grizzlies in double-figure kills with 17 and 14 respectively.Â
Dunn led Oakland and registered another career high with 29 assists, while Tomei handed out 25.Â
Oakland (9-8, 2-3) will return home on Sunday, Oct. 13 for a 5 p.m. match against first place Milwaukee.
