ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The Oakland men's basketball team will continue its home stand against Horizon League preseason favorite Wright State Saturday, Jan. 5 at 3 p.m. inside the O'rena. The game will be televised on TV20 Comcast 900, and will be streamed live on ESPN+. Fans can also listen on WDFN-AM (1130) or with the iHeart Radio app.

Saturday is ALS Awareness Day where fans can receive free wristbands and ribbons in support of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in honor of longtime athletic trainer Tom Ford, who spent 30 years at Oakland and was diagnosed with the disease in May 2016.
 
Last time out, Xavier Hill-Mais scored a career high 32 points as Oakland defeated Northern Kentucky 76-74 to move to 3-0 in Horizon League play.

MITTEN TOSS
Oakland swimming and diving will host its annual Mitten Toss during halftime Saturday.

Mitten Toss, a longtime tradition of Oakland swimming and diving, encourages fans to bring new or gently used mittens, gloves, scarves and winter hats to be thrown onto the court. All items donated will go to The Baldwin Center, a nonprofit organization that serves to feed, clothe, educate and empower the Pontiac community.

  • A win against the Raiders will tie Oakland's best start in Horizon League play at 4-0. The Golden Grizzlies also went 4-0 in the 2016-17 season.
  • A Golden Grizzlies victory will also mark the 200th win inside the O'rena. 
  • The Golden Grizzlies are one of two Horizon League teams that have started conference play 3-0.
  • The Golden Grizzlies lead the Horizon League and rank inside the NCAA's top- 10 in five categories: total assists (second; 293), three-pointers made (third; 173), three-point field goal percentage (fourth; 43 percent), three-pointers per game (eighth; 10.8) and assists per game (10th; 18.3).
  • Oakland also leads the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.55 (13th in NCAA) and ranks in the nation's top-25 in three point attempts (25th; 404).
  • Jaevin Cumberland leads the Horizon League in total minutes (592; third in the NCAA) and three-point field goal percentage (42 percent). 
  • Cumberland also ranks 11th nationally in total three-pointers made (51) and 13th in minutes per game (37). 
  • Hill-Mais ranks fourth in the NCAA in field goals made (136), while also ranking sixth in the NCAA in total points (359) and 17th in points per game (22.4).
