Northern Kentucky (12-4, 2-1 HL) went on a 7-0 run and held Oakland scoreless in the final 2:36 to end the first half as Oakland trailed 42-32. The win marked just the second time this season the Golden Grizzlies came back and won when down at the half.
In the second half, Oakland went on a 24-9 run over a seven-minute stretch to gain the lead.
Down 75-74, the Norse missed a three pointer with four seconds left to play. Newman pulled down the rebound and was fouled, making the front end of his pair of free throws, then intentionally missing the second shot with 0.7 seconds left to seal the win.

Oakland will continue its home stand by welcoming preseason favorite Wright State Saturday, Jan. 5 at 3 p.m.
