FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Jordan Lentz recorded 46 assists, 10 digs, four blocks and four kills plus was named tournament MVP as Oakland took down host Purdue Fort Wayne, 3-1, and claimed the tournament title Saturday night at the Gates Sports Center.
Offensively
Aleksandra Malek led the offense with 17 kills and
Jamie Walling had 15 kills with a .583 hitting percentage plus four digs and seven block assists.
Krysteena Davis also recorded 10 kills and four block assists.
Lentz was named tournament MVP while Walling and Malek were also named to the all-tournament team.
In its first match Walling had 16 kills to go with a hitting percentage of .565 plus five block assists as the Oakland volleyball team completed the five set comeback against Indiana State (2-1).
Malek recorded 13 kills, four digs and two block assists while
Mackenzie Schneider added 10 kills and had a match-high seven block assists.
Lindsay Wightman and Lentz both registered double-digits digs at 23 and 13 respectively. Lentz, a Fort Wayne native, also finished with 45 assists.
After nearly completing a five set comeback in its season opener a day ago, Oakland (1-1) found itself down 2-0 for the second straight match and rallied to win the final three sets for its first win of the season.
The Golden Grizzlies will hit the road again for a match at Bowling Green Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 6 p.m.
