Jaevin Cumberland scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half and made a career high five three-pointers as the Oakland men's basketball team dropped a road contest at Northeastern 92-83 Saturday at Matthews Arena.
Karmari Newman scored in double figures for the second consecutive game by matching his career high of 19 points, plus hit a trio of three-pointers.
Xavier Hill-Mais scored 17 of his 22 points in the second half and registered a career high four steals.
Oakland (4-6) got down 48-32 at the end of the first half, but opened up the second half on a 14-4 run, all points coming from Hill-Mais and Cumberland, who matched a career high with seven field goals made and three steals.
The Golden Grizzlies recorded a season best 10 steals, seven of which came in the second half, scoring 24 points off 14 Northeastern turnovers.
Oakland shot 60 percent (9 of 15) from three-point range in the second half and was able to cut the Northeastern (5-5) lead to 75-74 at the 5:08 mark. However, the Huskies closed the game on a 17-9 run to seal the win.
The Golden Grizzlies will make a return trip to the state of Connecticut by taking on Hartford Sunday, Dec. 16 at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
