CINCINNATI -- Xavier Hill-Mais led all scorers and matched his career high with 30 points on 13 of 21 shooting from the floor plus eight rebounds as the Oakland men's basketball team fell in a hard-fought battle at Xavier 73-63 Saturday.

Braden Norris continued his hot shooting from three-point range, going 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and finishing with 14 points and eight assists. Norris is now 18 of 22 (82 percent) from three-point range in his last five games. The freshman guard also matched a career high three rebounds.

Karmari Newman added nine points off the bench and grabbed a career high five rebounds.

The Golden Grizzlies came out in the first five minutes and shot 56 percent from the floor including 3 of 5 from three-point range and held a 13-10 lead. The Musketeers fought back and led 41-36 at halftime. Oakland cut the Xavier lead to four late in the second half with 1:58 remaining after a Norris three-pointer, but the Musketeers scored the game's final six points to seal the win.

Oakland held Xavier to just 27 percent shooting from three-point range, the Musketeers' second-lowest percentage this season.

The Golden Grizzlies will continue their road swing by traveling to Fairfield on Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.
