HILL-MAIS' RECORD PERFORMANCE LEADS OAKLAND PAST DEFIANCE 91-47

Hill-Mais becomes just the second player in Oakland history to make 10 field goals or more and have a 1.000 shooting percentage

ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Xavier Hill-Mais led Oakland by matching a career high 30 points and was a perfect 12-for-12 from the floor tying the school record for field goal percentage in a game, as the Oakland men's basketball team cruised past Defiance 91-47 Monday night at the O'rena. Hill-Mais becomes just the second player in Oakland history to make 10 field goals or more and have a 1.000 shooting percentage, joining Jason Burkholder who went 11 of 11 in 1994.

Jaevin Cumberland matched a career high with 16 points while also recording career highs in rebounds with eight and assists with nine.  

Jordan Nobles recorded a career high 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds plus had five assists, two blocks and two steals.

Brad Brechting scored in double figures for the first time this season with 11 points and matched a career high in blocks with four. Brechting, who came into the contest 0-for-1 in his career from the three-point line, shot 3 of 4 from beyond the arc.

Braden Norris got his first career start and scored 10 points including a trio of three-pointers and dished out five assists. Cumberland and Norris combined for 14 assists and no turnovers.

Oakland (1-3) went on a 22-7 run to end the first half and led at halftime 33-16. In the second half, Oakland shot 75 percent from the floor (21 of 28) and three-point line (12 of 16) to pull away from the Yellow Jackets (0-4). Overall, the Golden Grizzlies shot a season best 32 of 50 (64 percent) from the floor and recorded season highs in blocks (nine) and steals (eight).

Oakland will continue its home stand by hosting the 2018 Men Against Breast Cancer Oakland Hoops Challenge Friday, Nov. 23 through Sunday, Nov. 25 at the O'rena with James Madison, Oral Roberts and Northern Illinois. Oakland's first game will take place Friday against JMU at 2:30 p.m.
