ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The Oakland baseball team will host Eastern Michigan for its home opener April 18 at the Oakland Baseball Field with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
The Golden Grizzlies are coming off their first series win of the season at Valparaiso, scoring 34 runs over the three-game series. Tyler Pagano and Zach Sterry are both sporting a nine-game hitting streak, with Sterry having reached base safely for 26 straight games. The duo has also shown its power at the plate with Pagano hitting a home run in five straight games and Sterry going yard in four of his last six. Last time out against the Eagles, Aaron Dehn pitched 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits in a 3-2 win.
Since losing to Oakland on March 28, the Eagles have been red hot having won 10 of its last 13 games including a current four game winning streak that started with a 3-1 win at Ohio State and continued with a series sweep over Ohio this past weekend. Right-handed pitcher Sam Delaplane was named the MAC West Pitcher of the Week after throwing a complete game, striking out a career-high 12 batters against Ohio on April 14. It was the most strikeouts recorded in a single-game by an EMU pitcher since 1999.
