GOLDEN GRIZZLIES NAMED TO CSCAA FALL SCHOLAR ALL-AMERICA LISTS

Fall 2016 Scholar All-America teams

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Oakland men's and women's swimming and diving teams were both selected to the Fall 2016 semester College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams announced by the organization Wednesday.

The men's team finished the fall semester with a team grade-point average of 3.21 which ranks tied for 22nd among Division I teams in the nation and the women's team boasted a 3.49 team GPA which is tied or 18th. The women's team has been honored by the CSCAA for its academics every year since the organization began the annual semester awards. Oakland was one of 394 schools selected that included Divisions I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must achieve a team GPA of 3.00 or higher over the fall semester.

Founded in 1922, the CSCAA ââ'¬" the oldest organization of college coaches in America ââ'¬" is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level.

The Golden Grizzlies will be back in action Friday, Jan. 27 at 5 p.m. at Cleveland State.
