Hebzynski Promoted to Associate Head Coach of the Swim and Dive Program

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland swim and dive has announced that Molly Hebzynski has been promoted from assistant coach to associate head coach of the program.

"We're proud to announce Molly's well-earned title change to associate head coach. This is a significant win for Oakland University and our student-athletes," said Oakland swim and dive head coach Mitch Alters. "Molly has played a vital role in the continued growth of our program, consistently stepping up to take on more responsibility and helping elevate every aspect of what we do. Her ability to build strong, meaningful relationships with our athletes has been instrumental in shaping a positive team culture and driving individual and collective success. Molly's leadership and presence make us better every day."

In two years with the Golden Grizzlies, Hebzynski has helped Oakland win a pair of Horizon League championships, continuing what is now a 47-year conference championship streak for the men's squad and a 31-year streak for the women's team.

Additionally, she has helped Oakland remain one of the top mid-major programs in the country, as the men's team earned the No. 5-ranked class and the women's team earned the No. 7-ranked class among mid-majors in 2025, according to Swimcloud rankings.

"I'm grateful and honored to be named associate head coach at Oakland University," said Hebzynski. "To work alongside our head coach, Mitch Alters, and the rest of our staff is truly incredible. Oakland is a place you have to experience to understand how special it is."

Under Hebzynski, Oakland has had 35 individual Horizon League championship race winners, 16 Horizon League All-Academic Team student-athletes, four swimmers who qualified for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials, and multiple others who have gone on to represent their countries in international competitions.

Hebzynski's promotion reflects her impact on the program's championship culture, commitment to excellence, student-athlete development and leadership that continues to shape Oakland swim and dive into one of the nation's elite mid-major teams. The Golden Grizzlies look forward to building on this momentum as they enter the upcoming season.
