ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Men's basketball player Jalen Hayes has been named Oakland Student Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 26-Jan. 1 after averaging 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in two league wins on Dec. 29 and 31.

Hayes, a redshirt-junior from Lansing, Mich., recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in an 81-62 win over Wright State. Two days later, he scored 18 points to go along with eight rebounds in a 76-65 victory over Northern Kentucky.

Oakland (12-3, 2-0) will hit the road for its first road league games of the season on Jan. 6 and 8 at Valparaiso and UIC respectively. The Golden Grizzlies and Crusaders will tip-off at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
