ROCHESTER, Mich. - Men's golfer Evan Bowser has been named Oakland's Student-Athlete of the Week, for the week of April 20-26, after winning medalist honors at the 2015 Horizon League Championship over the weekend.
Bowser, a junior from Dearborn, Mich., won the individual title at the league tournament after winning a two-hole playoff over Cleveland State's Michael Balcar as both ended the 54-hole tournament with a score of 220 (+4). He became just the fourth player in program history to win the conference tournament and the first since PGA Tour professional Brian Stuard in 2005. Bowser also broke Stuard's record for most career rounds under par with a 71 (-1) in round two.
Bowser qualified for one of six NCAA Regionals to be played May 14-16. The men's golf selection show is scheduled for May 4 at 10 a.m. live on the Golf Channel.
