ROCHESTER, Mich. – Senior
Luke Kelly recorded his first collegiate hole-in-one during the second round of the Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate. The Irish native's ace came on the 199-yard, par-3 eighth hole. Kelly was one of two golfers to achieve a hole-in-one in the tournament; the other was from Wright State's Adam Horn on the same hole during the first round.
Besides the hole-in-one, Kelly ranked third overall on par-threes, averaging 2.92 strokes (-1), and fourteenth overall in par-fives with an average of 4.89 strokes (-1). He recorded eight birdies and finished tied for 24th place with an individual score of 221 (+8).
The Golden Grizzlies tied for sixth place at the intercollegiate event, finishing with a total score of 884 (+32) after three rounds of play.
Robert Burns led the pack for Oakland's qualifying five, tying for 19th with a score of 219 (+6). He had the second-best par-5 average with 4.67 strokes (-3) and made seven birdies. Jack Zubkus and Matteo Rocco both shot 221 (+8), tying for 24th, while Ellis Kinnaird and Brennan Sullivan wrapped up the team's performance with 223 (+10) and 232 (+19).
Rakshit Dahiya was the Golden Grizzlies' top performer over the weekend, playing a 218 (+5). The freshman also tied third overall in par-threes with Kelly and recorded seven birdies alongside Burns. Dahiya competed as an individual with Kelly and Ben Willis, who finished with 229 (+16).
