TUCSON, Ariz. - Tyler Janish collected two hits, while Robby Enslen, Ian Yetsko and Brett Impemba also recorded hits as the Oakland baseball team (0-8) dropped its second game at Arizona (8-2), 13-0, Wednesday evening at Hi Corbett Field.
"Against a team as skilled as Arizona, your pitch-by-pitch margin for error is tight," said head coach John Musachio. "We actually made a lot of quality pitches today but all it takes in one mistake pitch per at bat to be the difference. Offensively, it was very similar. Hit a lot of balls hard but we had a few too many marginal at bats in between to ever get anything going. The difference between our team the three teams we have faced boils down to consistency. Consistently executing pitches, consistently having good at bats, consistently making plays defensively."
The Wildcats jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning led by Riley Moore's single up the middle to plate two runs. UA added to its lead in the fourth inning as Justin Behnke, Scott Kingery and Bobby Dalbec each drove in a run to make it 7-0.
Enslen extended his school-record hitting streak to 30 games with a single in the first inning.
Oakland starter Nate Green suffered the loss throwing 3.0 innings, allowing four runs on four hits with two strikeouts. Arizona's Xavier Borde earned the win tossing 4.0 shutout innings, allowing three hits with two strikeouts.
The Golden Grizzlies are scheduled to face Evansville this weekend for a three-game set starting on Friday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. ET.
