TUCSON, Ariz. - Trent Drumheller recorded two hits and two RBIs, while Ian Yetsko and Tyler Pagano each had two hits with two runs as the Oakland baseball team (0-7) dropped the opening game of a two-game series at Arizona (7-2), 10-7, Tuesday night at Hi Corbett Field.
Down 10-3 in the seventh inning, Oakland would score four runs over the final three innings. Drumheller singled home Pagano in the seventh, followed by Connor Fannon grounding out to plate Spencer Marentette in the eighth. In the final inning, Brett Impemba lined a RBI-double to left-center field then scored as Jake Morton grounded to second base for the final run of the game.
The Golden Grizzlies jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Drumheller led off the game with an infield single and would score on a wild pitch. The Wildcats would respond with a four-run bottom half led by a two-RBI down the right-field line by JJ Matijevic.
Oakland answered with two runs in the second inning as Morton singled up the middle to drive home Yetsko followed by Drumheller hitting a sacrifice fly to plate Pagano to cut the lead to 4-3. UA added three runs in the bottom of the inning as Riley Moore, Jared Olivia and Zach Gibbons each recorded RBI-singles.
Tyler Palm suffers the loss allowing four runs in the opening inning on four hits. Arizona's Nathan Bannister earned the win tossing 3.0 innings in relief, allowing one run with three strikeouts.
The final game of the two-game set will begin Wednesday starting at 5 p.m. ET from Hi Corbett Field.
